including fresh fruit, charcoal, clamshells, utensils, snacks, gloves, paper
towels, foil, gas for generators, etc.
Operation BBQ Relief for Joplin was able to serve over 120,000 meals to
people in need, thank you to all the volunteers.
A special thanks to Stan Hays, Jeff Stith, and Will Cleaver for making a

Kookers Kare helps the BBQ relief effort in Joplin, MO
Our second wave of relief efforts for Joplin
was made possible by the generous donation of 5600 lbs of pork butts from
Farmland Industries and 4100 lbs of brisket from National Beef. This along with
3 pallets of sides from Reser's Fine Foods was temporarily
stored at the Queens Price
Chopper in Spring Hill KS. It was there that Kookers Kare volunteers spent the
next 2 weeks
cooking, pulling, slicing and panning meats that would ultimately
make their way to Joplin. Three borrowed smokers, from
Cosentino’s Price
Chopper, Christopher Sales, and Queens Price Chopper, turned out pounds and
pounds of
Kansas City BBQ that was sent to multiple organizations, including The
Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and the
United Methodist Conference that were
feeding displaced residents and volunteers who had come to help clear the
tons
and tons of debris, get the power grid up and running and start the re-building
process. A portion of the meat and
sides were also distributed to the city of
Reading , KS who suffered a tornado a few days before Joplin.
Again Kookers Kare would like to thank all those who donated their time and money to this effort.
